Hey! This is Eli and Ryan, cofounders at Pax Historia (paxhistoria.co).
Pax Historia is a map-based gaming platform which combines the creative freedom of sandbox games with the depth of grand strategy. Players imagine scenarios (like ‘What if the USSR hadn’t broken apart?’ or ‘What if a zombie outbreak started in 2019?’ or ‘What if the USA took over Greenland?’) and create maps and presets which are then published to the community and become playable by anyone.
Already, we have 35k daily users. Over the last week, in total, we’ve processed 100+ billion tokens. Our passionate community has published over 4k presets with 50+ plays each.
Creators create, edit, and publish custom maps and worlds. Users then play as a country or group in the world. They can make actions, start diplomatic chats, and jump forward in time. As the game progresses, the map shows any changes from player actions.
By using AI to power the responses of other countries/actors to in-game actions, we are able to move beyond constraining, pre-designed narrative paths. Players are truly able to do whatever they can imagine.

Our asks:
- Feedback: We would love to hear your feedback (especially if you’re a grand strategy, history, or gaming nerd!). You can make an account here.
- Talent: We are hiring! If you know of any talented engineers (Unity, web dev, AI/ML) who might be interested in a super high-impact, fast moving, small team, then please connect us. They can apply through our Ashby, but please also shoot us an email (careers@paxhistoria.co) so we can find their profile.
- Connection & Community: Finally, if you’re running platforms/marketplaces, who are using AI to power features within their service (not just to write code!), or just excited by building and maintaining online communities, then we would love to chat.
