Canada advanced to the final round of the figure skating Team Event Saturday in fourth position after the men’s short program on Saturday.

Canada put up strong performances from ice dancers Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, and pairs skaters Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud – who replaced Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps after an undiscovered injury by Stellato-Dudek – each finishing fourth.
Women’s single skater Madeline Schizas finished sixth after her short program.
Schizas, Pereira and Michaud and Gogolev will preform their free programs in the hopes of helping Canada snag a spot on the podium on Sunday.
